Dr Anthony Korte — A-level Maths & Further Maths Tutor

  • First Class degree in Physics University of Oxford
  • MSc with Distinction in Mathematical Modelling University College London
  • PhD in Theoretical Physics Imperial College London

Dr Korte has taught over 1,000 A-level students and brings an academic background unusually well suited to the subject. His MSc in Mathematical Modelling from UCL covers the same advanced mathematical methods — calculus, differential equations, complex numbers, linear algebra — that appear throughout A-level Further Mathematics. University-level physics is built entirely on the foundations tested at A-level: Pure Mathematics, Statistics, and Mechanics. This gives Dr Korte a depth of subject knowledge that goes well beyond the syllabus. He is a Member of the Institute of Physics (MInstP).

Frequently asked questions

Maths Revision — Common Questions

An A-level Maths revision course is an intensive online programme designed to consolidate syllabus understanding and build exam technique ahead of A-level examinations. Dr Korte's courses cover Pure Mathematics (algebra, coordinate geometry, calculus, trigonometry, sequences and series), Statistics, and Mechanics in small groups via Zoom, with targeted support for Edexcel, AQA, OCR A and OCR B students. Each session works through past-paper style questions in real time, with Dr Korte explaining methods, identifying common errors, and adapting to the questions that arise. The Easter intensive is particularly popular for Year 13 students preparing for summer exams, while the Christmas and summer courses suit both year groups. Course fees range from £95 for a 1-day session to £295 for the 4-day Easter course.

Yes. Courses cover both A-level Mathematics and A-level Further Mathematics. Further Maths tuition covers the additional pure mathematics, statistics, mechanics and decision mathematics content required for the Further Maths A-level, and is available as part of the same small group online programme. Dr Korte's MSc in Mathematical Modelling from University College London covers much of the same advanced material — complex numbers, differential equations, matrices, polar coordinates — that appears in Further Maths A-level, giving him an unusually deep command of the subject from first principles. Edexcel, AQA, OCR A and OCR B are all covered. Further Maths students benefit from dedicated sessions tailored to their additional content requirements.

Courses cover all major UK A-level Mathematics exam boards: Edexcel, AQA, OCR A and OCR B. While the core content — Pure Mathematics, Statistics, and Mechanics — is broadly consistent across all four boards, there are differences in question style, formula sheet provision, and the weighting of statistical topics. Dr Korte is familiar with the specific requirements of each board and tailors examples and past-paper practice to the board each student sits. Students should confirm their exam board when booking so that the right past papers and mark schemes can be prioritised during the session.

Sessions run live via Zoom in small groups. Dr Korte teaches using shared digital materials, works through problems in real time, and tailors explanations to the questions that arise. Students need only a device with internet access — no specialist software is required. The online format works particularly well for A-level Maths because problems can be displayed, annotated, and worked through step-by-step on a shared screen. Students are encouraged to ask questions throughout rather than waiting until the end of a topic. Sessions alternate between concept explanation, worked examples, and student practice, giving each student time to attempt problems before the solution is shown.

Easter intensive courses run during the Easter school holiday period in April — ideal for final exam preparation before the summer exams. The 2026 Easter course runs 7–10 April (4-day, £295) with shorter 2-day options on 7–8 April (Year 1) and 9–10 April (Year 2, £165 each). Summer intensive courses run in August — the 2026 summer course runs 23–24 August (£165), ahead of resit examinations or Year 12 progression. Christmas intensive courses run between Christmas and New Year — the 2026 Christmas course runs 30–31 December (£165), giving Year 12 students a head start on their second term and Year 13 students early exam preparation. Exact dates and booking are at physicsandmathscourses.com.

Yes. Courses are available for both Year 12 students consolidating their first year of A-level Maths and Year 13 students preparing for final examinations. Course content is tailored to the specific year group and exam board of each cohort. Year 13 students typically focus on the full syllabus with past-paper technique and exam conditions practice, while Year 12 students consolidate core Pure and Statistics topics and build strong foundations for Year 2. The Christmas and summer courses are particularly popular with Year 12 students who want to get ahead, while the Easter intensive is primarily a Year 13 final preparation course. Dr Korte can advise on the most suitable course and timing for individual students.

Course fees are: 4-day Easter intensive (Year 1 & 2) — £295; 2-day courses (any session) — £165; 1-day courses — £95. The 4-day Easter course covers the full A-level Maths syllabus across both Year 1 and Year 2 content, making it the most comprehensive option for Year 13 students with summer exams approaching. 2-day courses are available for individual year groups at Easter, and for the summer and Christmas intensives. 1-to-1 tuition is also available — contact physicsandmathscourses.com for rates and availability. All prices are per student. Full details and booking at physicsandmathscourses.com.

Sessions run in small groups of up to 15 students. This keeps the online maths revision experience interactive — students can ask questions throughout, and Dr Korte can address individual difficulties in real time. The group format also means students benefit from hearing other students’ questions, which often cover the same difficulties they themselves face. Groups are kept to a maximum of 15 to preserve the quality of the session.

All courses are taught by Dr Anthony Korte — an A-level Maths tutor who has taught over 1,000 students, with a First Class degree in Physics from the University of Oxford (ranked 2nd in entrance examinations worldwide), an MSc with Distinction in Mathematical Modelling from University College London, and a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Imperial College London. He is a Member of the Institute of Physics (MInstP). Dr Korte brings a deep understanding of the mathematical methods that underpin both A-level content and university-level study, helping students develop genuine understanding rather than surface exam technique.
